Result of planning - it's going to happen.

During the months of June and July, 2012, I was toying with the idea of riding my Harley Davidson from Australia to UK.  I still reckon the Harley Davidson would do the trip if I selected the route carefully but things have moved on.  Mind you I do not have experience or seen the roads but based upon what I have read.

My wife, Shirley, was not keen for me to travel alone and she wanted me to find some like minded riders.  Travelling solo gives you the independance to do as you please but it also has a downside.

I went to the Horizons Unlimited website and joined up.  There I posted a message under the banner of 'Travellers seeking Travellers'.  Since posting the message I have had over one hundred conversations with interested riders or riders offering advice and over two thousand readers to my page.

Over the next five months I managed to find seven like minded travellers who are committed to a trip not from Australia but starting in UK and finishing in Australia.

The route will take me from UK, Belgium, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia? and Australia.

My BMW R1200GS will be shipped to UK to do the trip home.

I fly into London on the 6th April, 2013.  I meet up with one of the travellers and head off together.

The group consists of -
Jim - a Welchman
James - another Welchman
Jens - a German
Artur - a Brazilia
Myself - Australian

We are all on motorcycles.

Then we have the following three travelling in four wheeled vehicles.

Jon - Englishman
Vaughan - Englishman
Kimberley - Englishwoman

Joining Horizons Unlimited was certainly worth the effort because it put me in touch with others now in the group.
