Visas suspended.

Lun, our guide, has just informed us that all visas for entry into China via the Torugat Pass have been suspended until further notice.  Apparently the civil unrest in the Xinjiang Province is getting worse with demonstrations and clashes with police taking place in Kashgar.  The people of Xinjiang Province are welcoming and friendly.  They live well in a harsh climate.  Hope that no one else is killed.

This will not effect our visas and shouldn't impact on the rest of our tour.  We are out of the trouble zone.  The suspension will affect Lun's guests on his next tour which starts on the 19th July.  He was expecting to guide twenty Polish Police officers across the Pass into China.  Those visas have now been suspended.

I feel for those Polish guys and gals but how lucky were we to get through when we did?  With a bit of luck things will quieten in the next couple of weeks.
