Naryn

Waiting for everyone to come together in the town of Naryn.  It is the largest town near the Chinese border.  It also has reasonable facilities including the Celestial Guest House where we are staying.

The town has one long main street and few other streets.

The market is where all the action is.

The view from my room this morning after fresh snow falls.  If it is snowing at this altitude it will definitely be snowing at the Torugat Pass which is a another thousand metres higher.  We don't want that for obvious reasons.

A guy from Switzerland turned up this morning in his Mitsubishi Pajero four wheel drive after negotiating the Dolon Pass which we did two days ago in reasonable weather.  His report was that the dust had turned to slush as it had been snowing.  Many vehicles were parked on the side of the road unable to continue due to the harsh conditions.  How lucky were we?

It was below zero last night.  The option of sleeping in a Yurt would not have been the best choice.
