Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan border subject to closure without notice.

Over the last week or so I have been monitoring the situation in Kyrgyzstan hoping that the political turmoil would be resolved.  So far if anything the problems are getting worse.  A curfew has been imposed in some provinces including Osh where we intended to travel.  The borders have been closed and if opened will be subject to closure without notice.

First thing this morning I went to UK government travel advisory website.  They confirm the situation is still dangerous for travellers.  That information is current.

• Latest update: State of Emergency declared in Djety-Oguz rayon

On 31 May a State of Emergency was declared in Djety-Oguz rayon (district) of Issyk-Kul province which imposes with immediate effect a curfew between 9pm and 6am until 10 June. Security has been tightened in Bishkek, the Kyrgyz capital following the disturbances in Kumtor. See Local travel

The Kyrgyz/Uzbek and Kyrgyz/Tajik borders are subject to closure without notice. There have been a number of security incidents in the Kyrgyz/Uzbek border region. See Local travel
There is a British Embassy in Bishkek. However, the British Embassy Office in Almaty, Kazakhstan is responsible for providing consular assistance to British nationals in Kyrgyzstan. If you need consular assistance while you are in Kyrgyzstan, you should contact the consular section at the British Embassy Office, Almaty.

Take out comprehensive travel and medical insurance before you travel.

Jim and I are now contemplating our options.  We may apply for a Visa to Kazakhstan - there is a local embassy here in Tashkent.  It may also mean a delay of about five days but at least we know that border is open.
