Baku - Old City precinct.

A day to do the tourist thing in Baku.

We purchased a Metro card for the old Soviet built underground railway system built over forty years ago.  The system only has two lines so no chance of getting lost.  A single journey costs about twenty cents so it is very cheap and the service is well used.  You descend a long way underground and apparently this is unique to this system.

The Metro got us to within a few metres of the Old City.  First impression of the old city is - clean, well maintained and interesting.  The old city has now been enclosed by not only the fortified walls but also the expansion of the new modern city.

Dubrovnik - Old city was magnificent and I believe Baku - Old city gives it a good run for it's money.  Dubrovnik maybe the edge because of the rugged coastal views.
