Stopping for lunch we walked into a restaurant and we were greeted by a very urbane young man who said, "Welcome to Kurdistan". I know that this part of Turkey the Kurdish ethnic group is the majority. The few Turkish words I know are not quite useless but the Kurds have their own language.

The strong wind coming off the last of the winter snow had me reaching for extra protective clothes.
Small rural villages come into view from time to time.
