Clive Emery (Englishman) and Jens Hussmann (German) are part of the group that will travel through China.
We arranged to meet in Istanbul after other arrangements fell through. Today it happened and it we had several hours together. All the worry about the group dynamic and how we would get on melted away within minutes of meeting. We sat chatting in a café for a while before Clive led us through the back streets he had explored some time earlier. He should be appointed the navigator for the group because his recall was spot on.
Both men are in the thirties and both have been involved in the finance industry. Both are riding a BMW R1200GS Adventure. Both are single and do not have children. Both want to ride all the way to Australia. Beyond that I guess I will know more about them as time passes. They both have a good sense of humour which we will all need in large quantities.
At 6ft (183cm) tall I am the short arse. From left to right - Me, Jim, Clive and Jens.
(Just need to include Artur Ferrari (Brazilian) and we have the group riding to Australia.)
They both now go their own way but we meet up in Cappadocia, Turkey, sometime in the next week. They are both very independent men and keen to do their own thing. Ride safe guys.
They stand out in a crowd.
All three have great cameras - might have to borrow their SD cards.
